Snack hacks

We are a nation of snack lovers!

We are snacking every day, between meals, after meals and maybe even just grabbing a quick snack for meals because we don’t have time for something else due to our busy lifestyles.

Its safe to say snacks have become a part of our daily eating habits, simply because most snacks are easy to grab when we feel that dip in energy or just need something to keep us going until our next main meal.

Our typical snack choices are however, maybe sometimes the wrong choices. Now if you know me and you know my way of education around food then you know I am against the restriction around eating ‘bad’ foods like your cake, chocolate and crisps. I believe all in moderation, and that includes cake.

The wrong types of snacks have become widely more available and slightly lower in price also, which when over consumed, like most of us here are doing, they will effect our health.

With that being said, nows the time for me to mention that this is not a post to say ‘snacks are bad’ or ‘you should be ending your snacking habits now’ because no. I’m very much in for snacking and personally believe eating little but often is the right way to go typically, actually when it comes to fat loss and calorie deficit because when the right snacks our eaten, you can stay fuller for longer and work snacks into your daily calories.

But how would you do that? and how to potentially stop the binge eating?

Well if you are like me and a planner and you plan your meals day in day out, then plan specific healthier alternative snacks into your daily calories.

Now I’m talking, small bags of popcorn, various fruits and veggies, snacks high in protein like a light babybel or if you are serious maybe a protein shake.

The other way is using those tupperware boxes you have laying around.

I want you to reach for 5 boxes (or 7 if you want to go hard core and don’t trust yourself)

Again work the snacks for the day and place them into the Tupperware boxes and label each Monday – Friday/Sunday

This way, whatever is in that box has got to last you the whole day. But also prevents you going to the cupboard and opting for a different snack.

I suggest this to most of my clients who come to me claiming they are a snacker, and it has worked for all, even when they are in the calorie deficit.

Let me know if you give it a go.
